We found ourselves in all sorts of interesting situations on our 10 week holiday in 2006. In some areas what were usually dry tracks had become swollen rivers and after several unexpected crossings towing our little AVan and not to mention a million corrugations, we decided we needed a van with more off-road capabilities.
There are so many off-roaders on the market and up until we seriously started looking for a new van, we had never heard of Royal Flair caravans. Funnily enough, there were two Royal Flair Discoveries at the caravan park in Longreach Qld where we were staying. We were so impressed by the way they looked that we approached one of the owners to ask if she was pleased with her van. She said she could not have been happier and although they had never been off-road with their rig, she said they did have a friend who travelled along the Gibb River Road frequently and that they had no problems at all. Now here we are 12 months later, with our own Royal Flair Discovery and like that helpful lady from that caravan park in Longreach, we too could not be happier. It still amazes us at how many people come over to our van to tell us what a good looking rig it is and yes we think so too.
Our Discovery handled the Gibb River Road without a hitch and I still can not believe that after hundreds of corrugations, when I open the door, that everything is still in the same spot that I had placed it. The van has one of the best independent suspensions we have seen. It also tows beautifully and river crossings are no longer a worry for us. This caravan is true luxury; we do not feel like we are roughing it in any way. We added a few extras, which we are so glad we did. The dual solar panels let us enjoy watching DVDs , run our Engel fridge and lights when were on the road and adding a full size fridge, freezer is one of the best decisions we ever made.We have had many fellow travellers approach us over the 6 months that we have been out on the road and we are more than happy to tell them that choosing a Royal Flair Discovery is one of the best decisions we have ever made.
