Top Easter Weekend Getaways
Easter is creeping up soon, and that means a wonderful long weekend – perfect for a trip in your Royal Flair Caravan. Pack up the van full of Easter eggs and hot cross buns and you’ll be good to go! Some of the best camping spots this time of year are on the South Coast of New South Wales. This area is filled with amazing caravan parks that tend to be packed over Easter weekend. So, make sure to book in a spot as soon as you can! Here’s some of our favourites in the area:
Merimbula
There is something for everyone at NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Park. Located on the beautiful NSW South Coast, it is the perfect beach holiday destination with a fantastic range of sites and facilities. This caravan park is every kid’s dream – with a waterpark, games room, giant jumping pillow, sand volleyball court, playground and kids club, we doubt they will ever get bored. Balanz Bikes and Go-karts are even available to rent!
For the adults, we promise that you will be blown away the spectacular ocean views. Merimbula’s Main Beach is five kilometres of sand that is perfect for surfing, fishing and swimming. Plenty of walking tracks are available in the area that range from short walks around town to longer coastal trails through the bush.
Dalmeny
For a more quiet, relaxed getaway, head over to Dalmeny Campground for your lovely long weekend. Stunning ocean views stretch along Dalmeny Beach, Eurobodalla National Park and Potato Point in the North. Looking out towards the West, the campground overlooks Mummaga Lake – an absolutely stunning location for a swim or fish.
Dalmeny Beach itself is also a great spot for snorkelling, kayaking and boating. Bushwalking in Eurobodalla National Park also comes highly recommended. The campsite is filled with all the amenities you have come to expect- hot showers, laundry area, campfire fits and a playground for your little ones. An IGA supermarket is also nearby if you’re in need of any cooking supplies.
Bermagui
As a stunning little town along the Sapphire Coast, Bermagui is most well-known for its deep-sea game fishing. More experienced fishers can enjoy the excitement of game fishing in the deep blue sea for black marlin and yellowfin tuna. Start this adventure at Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf with some fantastic seafood, wine bars, and gift shops. Plenty of other reef fishing and sea kayaking tours are available here that cater to both beginners and the experienced adventurers.
For a break from the kids, Mimosa Wines and Rusty Fig Wines are some of the nearby vineyards that come highly recommended. Park your Royal Flair Caravan at the Bermagui Holiday Park for the night. This well-equipped park comes with BBQ facilities, camp kitchen, laundry and children’s play areas so your home on wheels can spend the weekend parked in one of the picturesque powered sites.
Kiama
With its spectacular views, wonderful coastal walks, rainforest trails and sandy beaches, Kiama is a wonderful area to explore this Easter weekend. For an amazing natural spectacle, visit the Kiama blowhole – it’s one of the largest in the world. This sea-cliff cavern can spout water 20 metres into the air and seeing this powerful act of nature is unlike anything else. More stunning views are waiting for you along Kiama Coast Walk. The 22km trail goes through headlands, rivers and beaches. Walk through beautiful bays and beaches before winding into the seaside town of Gerringong.
Of course, activities like surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking and fishing are all available here. Even if you are a novice, surf lessons are available for you. We recommend that you park your mobile home at BIG4 Easts Beach Holiday Park. Its beachfront location, quality facilities for both adults and children will have you feeling rested and relaxed in no time.
Shellharbour
Only a 90 minute drive from Sydney, Shellharbour is the epitome of charming little seaside town. But this little destination is jam packed with things to do. Spend the long weekend relaxing on beautiful beaches, exploring through a coastal rainforest, get on board for some fishing or boating. Bass Point Reserve in particular, is not to be missed if you are in the area. As one of the most important indigenous historical sites in NSW, you may soon be exploring Bass Point’s ancient past on a sign-posted Aboriginal cultural heritage walk.
Just off Bass Point, are six shipwrecks that are some of the best diving and snorkelling spots in the country. We suggest that you bring some gear for this amazing adventure. Surfers will rejoice over the Shellharbour area too, as Killalea State Recreation Area is known as one of Australia’s most iconic surfing locations. The Shellharbour Beachside Holiday Park would be a great place for you to park your Royal Flair Caravan. It’s beachfront location, many practical amenities and stunning 50m ocean pool will allow for you to have a fun-filled Easter weekend.
We hope you enjoy your long-weekend away at one of these lovely locations. And from all of us at Royal Flair, wishing you a Happy Easter!
